Clear the Dust
03:40
|
|||
Seems like all my friends are breaking up and moving on, two halves no longer make a whole.
Seems like everywhere there’s people lost in mirrored rooms wondering how it all went so wrong.
There’s no point being together if you can’t make it any better
Might be in the right place in the wrong mind or the wrong place in the right life. The right moves but all the wrong lines.
You might be the wrong girl with the right man, the wrong guy with the right plan.
Clear the dust from your eyes
Clear the dust from your eyes
Looks like mother earth is getting set to pull the rug and take us to a new way of being.
Looks like all of you who close your minds and fear the change will get stuck with your own misery
There’s no point just ignoring when everything is screaming out a warning
Feels like all the angry people of this world have all had their day in the sun
Feels like all the bitter postcards that they sent are falling off the fridge one by one.
There’s no point just complaining, when all your hopes and dreams start a fading

Take Me Home (demo)
03:21
|
|||
Take Me Home
Never fall like cane when the money's out
Waiting for the tune
Your eyes will say what your mouth can't speak
When you're reaching for the news
Help me now
Help me make it right
Read the lines
Then you let them out
While you watch them fading slowly
Take Me Home
Like the slow ball and chain on the midday show
Take Me Home
I know you're there but I won't ever go
You turned off the lights when the door was closed
The only thing to do
You came right back to let me know
The signs were far and few

Free, Free Road (demo)
04:06
|
|||
Throw me down this jar of clay
And drain this quart of blood I borrowed for today
Tomorrow's only just a thought, yesterday's a hidden word
So you do your thing and I'll do mine
Despite what you say
I'll roll down that free free road
I'll be on my way
Then I'll walk those empty halls, where the highway melts and fades into the shore
And the people turn to light, and say goodbye, to all they know
then they'll all line up for the show.

Music Words Dance Love
04:08
|
|||
See the man on the slippery slope, got no grip got no smile,
Blaming everyone for all that is wrong in his life
The anger boils, the vices wage war,
Wakes up one morning and thinks there’s got to be something more to this
Than sleep walking through this life, pushing through the daily grind, never feeling satisfied
Takes one step to start a journey, so
go within to stop the hurting and
think of all the things you love and then you hold what you’ll become
Music words and dance and love puts you in touch with all above,
Take some from here and some from there, whatever works for you my friend
It’ll be alright in the end..
See the man on a summer day, his shoes are off his worries gone
He remembered how to play get back to the pure soul
The deepest sense of peace and love that he’s ever known, he wakes
up every morning and knows that there’s no reason to be
sleep walking through this life, pushing through the daily grind, never feeling satisfied
Takes one step to start a journey, so
go within to stop the hurting and
think of all the things you love and then you hold what you’ll become
Music words and dance and love puts you in touch with all above,
Take some from here and some from there, whatever works for you my friend
It’ll be alright in the end..

Coming Home
03:21
|
|||
You're always looking right through me
I say come on down you need to see what I see
Cos when I'm knocking at your door
You'll know the reasons I won't cross the floor
I'm Coming Home
You chain my body to this wall
But my mind is mine and can't be held and won't be called
To flatter you for your pride
Or tell you things are right when hope has died
I'm Coming Home
So I've been knocking down your door ...
You told me crazy doesn't live here anymore...
It's like I'm scratching on my arms
And you're fixing me on dreamless charms
I'm Coming Home

Take me as I am (demo)
03:35
|
|||
You’ve got to build the walls before you break them down but your habits are holding strong and the light is fading slowly on the shiny quiet streets
It’s yellow and it’s down
A pale imitation, like that smile you shared with the guy at the station and he thought you touched your hair and thought about you there and I said…
Take me as I am or don’t take me at all
So you held your ground when the moon was high and you felt the ceiling change and your stories had more meaning when you heard the heavens calling, You gotta write them down
You can be a man at 20 or a boy at 35
Sit on the hill for a while watch the moon go down and take a little time

Another Bloody War Song
03:31
|
|||
My grandad paid me a visit last night, even though he’s been dead for near twenty years.
He said why don’t you tell them a bit about me and all that I went through to keep this place free.
I said where do I start Pop, there’s a fair bit to say, should I pull up your war file and start from the day that you signed up with your mates at the Caulfield town hall and joined the commandos down on the prom.
He said sing me another bloody war song,
Sing about the blokes who answered the call and fought in New Guinea and we bet on flying pennies
My body was broken and my mind was all torn.
Did all his training down at Tidal River, learning the skills that would keep him alive, a long winding train trip right up to Townsville then a low flying plane to Port Moresby by night.
There were too many fights and too many deaths and too many ways to wind up insane.
There were three tours in total – 800 days service, and at just 21, he was an old man.
He came home near death at the end of the war, he’d seen the fight through til the battle was done.
Scrub typhus, dysentery and a dose of malaria, New Guinea trifecta but the bookies had won
The old Austin Repat was his home for three months, along with the diggers who’d been wounded and maimed.
He walked out of there with a handful of medals a new wife by his side and a lifetime of pain.

Don't Stand in the Shade
03:26
|
|||
Well you've got your morals while it helps your cause
But when it comes right down to it all you've got are words
There's nothing there of substance, there's nothing there that's real
You bow to the dollar and you turn on your heel
So don't you stand in the shade
Don't you breathe in this air
Cos you can't have it both ways you know
You're all concern but no care
Your smiles are full of promise but your handshakes are so limp
Your weasel words spin around and round but you don't give a fig
The splinters they will hurt you while you're sitting on the fence,
But that's nothing like the pain of never seeing sense
When you see something happening and you know that it's so wrong
You know you just can't turn away and hope that it gets gone
Your policies and processes, committees and your plans,
Well they're not worth a pinch of shit
Unless you make a stand

Never shies from the solid truth, never hides from showing proof
Never talks when the deeds shine through, never knows what the words will do
There's a takin' on the side, a money to be made, a little bit here and a little in the shade
There's a brown paper bag and a tap on the nose, there's a scratch of the back and easy as she goes
When you see yourself in the mirror and you don't know where it's at
You know that loneliness is the last refuge of the honest man
There's a pushing and a shove, truth speaking love, a feeling deep inside that you should never deny,
It's easier to turn and let it slowly burn than face it head on and lessons are all gone…
When you see yourself in the mirror and you don't know where it's at
You know that loneliness is the last refuge of the honest man

Everything About You
02:25
|
|||
I’m reading that you’re critically acclaimed
I’m hearing words I’ve heard before today
You’re spinning lines to hide the cracks,
Make a jump and get your record back
Cos I don’t owe anyone and I don’t pave my lines with gold
You shake your head and you’re quoting Lester Bangs, but the bennies don’t sit so well
What you say about me says everything about you
I’m reading that you’re beatle-esque
But seventh chords need more than cardigans
And your guitars are perched so high
If Brian saw your hair he’d be glad that he died

Soul Do Mend
02:58
|
|||
Once again a new direction
Choice of death or resurrection
Chance to grasp that which denied
by my self and my foolish pride
Pain and Passion my oldest friends
This gift I grasp and my soul do mend
Dreams of castles in the sky
Paper clouds that fill my mind
Upon them all a million words
That call to me when eyes are blurred

Two days of radio silence and it’s eerily quiet
I take comfort in the blissfulness of ignorance
We had a brief encounter, a step back melodrama
That resolved itself in a kind and gentle way, or maybe it was just because there was nothing left to say.
I still feel, a thousand miles away from you
Although it’s only five minutes in an automobile
I’m quivering with freedom, but the moment keeps on leaving
like remembering a dream in the morning.
I tried to walk away from all that we have made
I tried to make something out of nothing
And I can’t say I’ve failed, even though it looks that way (straight into chorus)
We ran before we crawled and we walked before we cried
And I wouldn’t have wanted it to happen any other way
And I’m carrying the burden of my own expectation
I’m holding three wounded hearts in my hands and
It’s all I’ve got to show that I took the time to understand
There’s something I gotta ask you and I hope that you’ll come clean -
(I won’t paint you into a corner when you’re working on being serene)
Will you be my consort or will you be my queen?
